Horrid Practice

Ok, todays band rehearsal was TERRIBLE. We were barely 10 minutes in to practicing, when our director told us the rehearsal was bad, as if the next half hour couldn't be any better, and as if we were all total failures. This particular director has directed for 17 years and said we were the most difficult group to control. Yeah, THAT'S supposed to make us feel good about ourselves.

There's this good song we are going to play at our concert in three weeks called Electricy, and it has some kick-butt awesome percussion parts, but the percussion is struggling with them 'cause, they're, well, challenging, which was the reason the director picked it in the first place. So today, the director said if the percussion didn't get better, he wouldn't let us play it at the concert. As if that's going to happen. That would take our already short concert down to only three songs. Yeah, right.

Honor Band

Trying out for an honor band can easily make any calm, composed person turn in to a total basketcase. I play the oboe, and only two are accepted, but at least 10 audition. First, you have to get the music to play in the first place, practice it for months, and still not get it perfect. Next, you have to play scales (from memory of course). You are forced to memorize ten scales, but being the nature of pure evil judges, they only make you play three, so you essentially just worked your butt off for months memorizing to have to play the three hardest scales you still have trouble with. Then you have to play the actual piece and almost collapse on the spot from hyperventilation before the judge lets you go pass out in peace. After you are consious again, you must wait at least an hour or more for the results to be sent in, and even longer until they are finally made public. I was auditioning for my second time, and I GOT THE HIGHEST SPOT!!!!!!! Wahooo!! *faint*
