I'm in a gifted (smarty-pants/nerd) English/Communication Arts class, and today all the gifted CA kids went to the public libary downtown. Only a gifted class would go to a library on a field trip (we have a reasearch project). The library (being downtown) isn't the safest place, so we were warned to be smart and observant. What I find halarious, is us being gifted are totally smartical, but we are all totally crazy, spontaneous and mental (in a crazy, sane way. For example, this one kid had a kazoo on the bus and was playing it randomly. No reason why, just cause). We had to be reminded to be smart!!
When we got to the library, we had a short tour, found partners, and were given permission to go wherever we wanted in the five story library (except the roof balcony and coffe shop. :-( sad.) So, there were around 105 hyper, crazy teenagers given free roam of a huge library to "research". Yeah, "research". I doubt most people did a lot of work, just hung out and slid down a huge stuffed cow in the juvenile literature section.
Then, 105 hyperactive teenagers (quite a number of us MUST have ADD) trooped three blocks and past a bus stop crowded with scary-looking people and wound up at a food court, and given free reign there too, for then next 45 minutes. I tried a veggie sushi roll (it was gross, I'm not a veggie person), and after everyone else at the table tried it, I placed some wasabi and ginger on top of a few remaining pieces, and my friend got two guys to each eat a piece. Cue the gagging and screaming!
Halarious. One of the best field trips ever.
